2009

Sadly, it seems like just yesterday when Boise State University was BCS Bound and I was celebrating the New Year at the Fiesta Bowl in Arizona. As I embark on 2009, ready for new adventures and memories, I would like to take a moment to share with you all my future plans.

I started off the New Year with a wedding. This should come as no surprise, as I have officially called this year, the “Year of the Weddings.” I will be attending a wedding nearly every month which will prove to be exciting as well as exhausting.

In February, Austin and I will be going to Las Vegas for Valentine’s Day. My Dad recommended a few nice restaurants for the two of us for Valentine’s Day dinner. Furthermore, my Dad suggested that I sip on “One of the best red wines that God ever created.” At $28.00 a glass, I will save Austin’s money for the tables and slots.

In March, I will once again compete in the Miss Idaho International Pageant. I am ecstatic as I truly enjoyed myself last year when I competed. The directors of the pageant, as well as the other competitors are all extremely friendly and personable. I look forward to meeting new individuals and seeing old friends.

In April, my parent’s will celebrate their 25th anniversary. Little do they know, but a party of some sort might ensue. Ashley and I will also attempt to throw ourselves through the Race to Robie Creak, one of the toughest half marathons in the world.

In May, I look forward to attending my cousin Lyndsey’s wedding in Honolulu, Hawaii. I have not been back to the Islands since my freshman year of school when I attended Chaminade.

In June, I will compete in the 2009 Boise 70.3 Ironman. The competition, which will include a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride, and 13 mile run, will no doubt test me mentally and physically. I have started training with numerous avid triathletes in Boise. Training is tough, but “carb loading” has been fun. On a side note, I have thrown out all of my years of pageant training and replaced it with large bowls of pasta, bread, and steak. Following the competition, I will meet fellow bridesmaids and the bride herself, one of my best friends- Paige Middleton, in Las Vegas for her bachelorette party. The wedding, which will be in September in Colorado, is something that Paige and I have talked about since childhood. I am blessed to be part of such a special experience with such a wonderful friend.

Now this is where things get a little dicey. I still plan on attending law school next fall. With the support of my family, I hope to attend Utah. Not only is Park City and Salt Lake a great location, but it is my Father’s hope that Clayton might be skiing and studying at Romark Ski Academy during his senior year of high school. With that said, Clay and I would of course be living in a custom-built Chris Conner Construction home in the mountains of Park City, equipped with a hot tub and pool table to help melt our worries away. Right Clay?

Until next time, best of luck in 2009!
